Commercial Crosswalk Line Striping Professionals

Crosswalk Maintenance Services in Norristown, PA

Business owners and entrepreneurs in Pennsylvania are faced with a million choices everyday, choices that affect the health, profitability, and safety of their establishment. But a business owner's responsibilities don't end with the customers inside their store. They extend outside the business as well. Owners must take into account the property that surrounds their building, especially the parking lot and sidewalks.

In order for your Pennsylvania business to be successful and maintain a steady stream of foot traffic, your customers have to be able to safely access your building after parking. That's why it is essential to partner with a commercial crosswalk line striping specialist like Maintain It All to fit your lot with safe and visible crosswalks.

What Is a Crosswalk?

A crosswalk is a section of roadway or carriageway that is optimized and marked off for pedestrians to safely cross. Crosswalk line striping (i.e. painting) regulations differ on state-per-state basis, but there are some general considerations that you should take into account when setting up a crosswalk. For example, most states have laws that make it mandatory for vehicles to yield for pedestrians within a crosswalk. Those considerations include:

Patron safety

Distance between curbs

Width of crosswalk

Visibility

Your Crosswalk Guide

Patron safety always comes first. Make sure the area that you intend to paint is safe and easy for vehicles to see. This includes taking into account the distance between curbs and placing your crosswalk where the distance is shortest. The width of the crosswalk can differ according to your state's regulations, but as a rule of thumb, two people should be able to walk abreast to account for two-way foot traffic. Once complete, the crosswalk should be clearly marked with signage to alert drivers to its presence.

The Different Styles of Commercial Crosswalk Line Striping

While local regulations may preclude certain designs, there is no one crosswalk pattern that must be used. There are many different styles available including:

Solid. A solid crosswalk consists of a solid, white bar across the entire span of road.

Standard. The standard crosswalk pattern looks like two solid, thin lines running parallel to one another. These lines establish the outer boundaries of the crosswalk.

Continental. The continental style looks like a repeating pattern of rectangles stretched across the road.

Dashed. The dashed style resembles the standard style except that the parallel lines are broken into dashes.

Ladder. Ladder and zebra closely resemble one another. Ladder is a combination of continental and standard, forming a literal ladder pattern across the road.

Zebra. Zebra creates diagonal marks between the parallel lines.

What to Look for in a Professional Sealcoating Service
March 24, 2025
When it comes to maintaining your asphalt, sealcoating is one of the smartest investments you can make. It protects your pavement from harsh weather, sun damage, oil spills, and everyday wear and tear. But the quality of the sealcoating job depends heavily on who you hire. Not all contractors are created equal—and choosing the right one can make all the difference between a surface that lasts and one that peels or cracks in a few months.
